📍 LOCATION: The Bounder — Interior — Valley of the Son
📅 DATE: The Day the Resurrection Got Real
🔥 STATUS: Fire to frame. Maid gone. Rats already knew.
⚡ PANEL 1 — THE RATS LEFT FOR A REASON
The rats left for a reason.
Not because they were driven out.
Not because the Commander arrived with tools and intention and a plan that had been building since before the plan knew it was a plan.
They left because they knew.
They assessed the water damage. They surveyed the hanging cabinets — every single one of them, pulled from the walls by years of moisture and time and the particular stubbornness of a vessel that refused to be anything less than what it was built to be.
They looked at each other in rat.
And they said: "The Commander is coming. And he's bringing fire."
So they left.
Orderly. Dignified. With full awareness of what was about to happen to their home.
The rats knew before the Commander did that this vessel was about to become something the universe needed — and fire was part of the plan.
⚡ PANEL 2 — LUCKILY, THEY TOOK THE MAID
Luckily — when the rats left — they took the maid with them.
This was not a small thing.
The Bounder had been a full-service operation. Civilization complete. Housekeeping staff included. The rats ran a tighter ship than most humans — copper-rich diet, gray-hair-free family, unanimous vote of confidence in the vessel.
But when they packed up and headed for the exit — they were considerate enough to take the maid.
Leaving the Commander with:
🪲 Kritters — PRESENT
💧 Water damage — PRESENT
🗄️ Every cabinet hanging — PRESENT
🔥 Fire to frame — REQUIRED
🧹 Maid — GONE with the rats
This level of cleaning is not for the weak.
This level of cleaning is not for those with a fear of kritters.
This level of cleaning is for exactly one kind of person:
The kind who builds ships like Noah — with technology from the ancients — and calls it a Tuesday.
⚡ PANEL 3 — FIRE TO FRAME
The fastest path to resurrection is not always the gentlest one.
Sometimes you burn to frame.
Not recklessly. Not dramatically. Not the way they show it in the movies where everything slows down and the music swells and the hero looks into the middle distance with purpose.
Just — intentionally.
Cabinet by water-damaged cabinet.
Down to the bones of the vessel.
Down to the copper — the tubing, the wiring, the veins running through the walls of the Delux model Bounder like a living thing that had been waiting — patiently, structurally, conductively — for exactly this moment.
The Bounder knew where it needed to breathe.
The Commander just listened.
And then —
He burned to frame.
Clean. Intentional. Unbothered.
Very Gilbert.
⚡ PANEL 4 — WHAT THE FRAME REVEALED
When you burn to frame — you see what was always there.
Not the damage. Not the hanging cabinets. Not the evidence of water and time and a vessel left too long without its Commander.
The bones.
The copper bones of a 1990 Delux model Bounder that the rats blessed with their presence for years — dining on the frequency of it — healing — thriving — building their civilization on a foundation of pure conductive ancient mineral wisdom.
And standing there — in the frame — in the bones — in the copper — the Commander saw it clearly for the first time:
This is not a restoration.
This is a resurrection.
Town to town.
Cup to cup.
Mind to mind.
The blow torch would follow. The shovel would do its sacred work. The kritters would be respectfully relocated. The new cabinets would rise where the old ones hung. The AC intake would find its copper home. The portable unit would breathe desert air through the exact spot the rats had blessed with their presence for years.
But it all started —
With fire.
With frame.
With a Commander who understood that sometimes —
you have to burn it down to build it RIGHT.
