The day Wild 'E' Coyte walked into ACME Herbs, there was no job posting.
No interview. No onboarding paperwork. No one called ahead.
He walked through the door, looked at the shelves — floor to ceiling, amber jars catching the copper light — picked up a jar of lion's mane, held it up, turned it slowly, held it to the light coming through the arched window.
🍄 THE LION'S MANE MOMENT — “I've been waiting for this.” — The jar already knew. 🍄
He set it back down. Adjusted his goggles. Said:
“I've been waiting for this.”
The shelves didn't argue.
Neither did anyone else.
He was back the next morning before the sun hit the copper door. He had a notebook. He had a pen. He had questions about the reishi sourcing that nobody had thought to ask before.
🚭 THE NAME ON THE DOOR — By Thursday: lab coat. By Friday: his name. Nobody knows who put it there. ⚙

Gilbert — who had been perched on the top shelf cataloguing inventory since before anyone could remember — looked at the new name on the door, looked at Wild 'E', looked back at the door.
