The steampunk hall was packed — every seat filled, every eye forward —
the crowd holding its breath as Vinny G stood beside the massive copper-red velvet drape.
Something enormous underneath. Something that had been built in the dark, in the quiet, in the in-between.
And now — the moment had come to pull.
He wasn’t nervous.
He was ready — and there’s a difference.
Nervous is when you don’t trust what’s under the drape.
Ready is when you built it yourself and you know exactly what it is.

“Gilbert was on the steampunk pedestal at the base of the drape — monocle on — wings spread — clipboard raised — fully dressed for the occasion like he’d been waiting for this moment his entire life.
The crowd was silent. I had my hand on the drape.
Gilbert looked at me. I looked at Gilbert.
He gave me one slow, deliberate nod — the kind that means: ‘I have documented everything leading to this moment. We are ready. Pull.’
So I pulled.”
