The rooftop overlooked the whole steampunk city —
copper towers, airships crossing the golden desert sky, saguaros on the ridge beyond the walls.
Three of them sitting on the ledge — Vinny G in the center — two others beside him who had found their way here the same way he had:
by following the frequency until it led somewhere real.
For a long time, each of them had thought they were alone in it.
That the feeling — the pull, the knowing, the sense that something bigger was trying to come through —
was theirs alone to carry.
Then they found the rooftop. And each other.

At one point he wrote something, then held the clipboard out so we could all read it.
It said: ‘THREE EXPLORERS. ONE ROOFTOP. THE FREQUENCY CONFIRMED.’
None of us said anything for a while after that.
We didn’t need to.”
