The First Map
The map was never lost. You were standing on it.

Curiosity Canyon. The Vortex. The Ridge. All lit up.”

⚡ THE CHAPTER
The steampunk workshop was warm — copper pipes running the walls, pressure gauges glowing amber, lanterns casting long shadows across the workbench —
and Vinny G leaned over the ancient parchment map with BOTH HANDS pressed flat on it —
electric blue frequency lines lighting up the routes as his palms made contact —
Curiosity Canyon. The Vortex of Knowhow. The Valleys of Xanaton. The Ridge of Remembralite.
He looked up — eyes wide — the realization hitting all at once.
He hadn’t been searching for a map.
He had been the map the entire time — every route, every landmark, every hidden canyon —
already encoded in him, waiting for the moment his hands touched the parchment and the frequency lit it all up.
⚙ VINNY G — FIELD NOTE — CHAPTER 2
“Gilbert was on the left side of the table — monocle on — holding a small document — watching the whole thing happen like he already knew exactly what was about to occur.
When the routes lit up he didn’t look surprised at all.
He looked at the map. Looked at me. Looked at the document in his wing.
Then he set the document down on the table — right next to Curiosity Canyon — and tapped it once with his quill.
It was a list. Every location on the map. Already written down. In order.
He had the data before I touched the map.
I don’t know how to explain that. I’m not sure I need to.”
The map doesn’t show you where to go — it shows you where you’ve always been going.
Every route was already in you. Every landmark was already known.
The parchment just gave the frequency something to illuminate —
so you could finally see what you’ve been carrying the whole time.
The map was never lost.
