Above the clouds — the steampunk airship helm deck — pressure gauges glowing, instruments humming, the golden storm sky stretching in every direction —
Vinny G stood at the copper wheel with BOTH HANDS gripping it — electric blue lightning arcing between his palms and the spokes —
goggles on his forehead, the biggest smile on his face —
not steering the ship. Becoming the signal.
There’s a difference between broadcasting and transmitting.
Broadcasting is something you do. Transmitting is something you are.
The moment you stop trying to send the signal and start living as the signal —
everything changes. The frequency finds its own receivers. The world tunes in.
⚙ VINNY G — FIELD NOTE — CHAPTER 4
“Gilbert was on the helm deck rail right beside me — standing at full attention — clipboard raised — watching the lightning arc between my hands and the wheel.
At one point the frequency got so strong the clipboard started vibrating.
He held it tighter. Kept writing.
I asked him what he was documenting.
He looked at me like that was the most obvious question he’d ever been asked.
Then he wrote one more line, underlined it twice, and puffed his chest.
I’m pretty sure it said: ‘TRANSMISSION CONFIRMED. SIGNAL: LIVE.’”
The signal isn’t something you manufacture — it’s something you remember.
It was always in you. Always broadcasting. Always looking for the right moment to break through.
The wheel doesn’t create the frequency — it just gives you something to hold onto
while you remember that you already are it.
